2021 IECC: Code Basics, Simplifying Code Compliance & Submitted Questions Answered

This course covers the basics of the 2021 IECC (including Illinois amendments), which became effective on January 1, 2024. The training will include an introduction to the code’s Administrative Chapter and Definitions. We will provide examples of how to work through code interpretation to help attendees develop their own skills and abilities to read and interpret the code. Additionally, this course covers commercial and residential provisions within the Code, focusing on design decisions that can lead to simplified compliance requirements. The SEDAC energy code technical assistance hotline receives from 2 to 5 questions a week from code officials, architects, and contractors across Illinois.
